Craft And Art Activities

  • : all you need is some giant chalk and a clear bit of path, pavement or driveway. The kids will have great fun drawing. This summer activity is so simple and cheap to do. Better yet, its fun, creative and easy to wash away.
  • Paint with water: another brilliant summer activity for toddlers that makes no mess and helps to develop fine motor skills.
  • Cooker cutter painting: cookie cutters are great to paint with, especially if you have some fun shapes.
  • Finger painting: okay so this can be done in any season, but what makes this a good toddler activity in summer is that all the mess can be taken outside!
  • Pointillism: create a beautiful picture just using dots. Weve done this using q-tips but small circle or dot stickers work just as well too.
  • Shadow drawing: take a big piece of paper. Line toys or different objects up along one side and trace the shadows. GinGin and Roo like doing this summer activity with their dinosaur toys best!
  • Rock painting: my girls have been known to collect a pebble or two from the beach and they love nothing more than painting them. We sometimes hide them on our local walks for others to find.
  • Make a stained glass window with tissue paper: stick some double-sided sticky paper to a window low to the ground and tear up some tissue paper for your little one to make their own stained glass window.
  • Homemade body paint: this is something we discovered last year and the girls loved it! Its quick and easy to make and really easy to clean off too!
  • Unwind On The Deck At The Lake Tahoe Resort

We decided to stay at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. At nine stories, it is the largest hotel South Lake Tahoe has to offer. We explored the hotel and enjoyed a free breakfast, which was included in our hotel stay .

I particularly loved this hotel because its just huge and was packed with families. We felt welcomed and right at home.

I really enjoyed hanging out on the outdoor deck of the hotels Echo Restaurant. Its the perfect place to enjoy some live music and an adult beverage as you watch the world go by on a lovely summer day.

The hotel rooms were all suites, and it gave our family ample room to spread out and relax. It was near everything, so last minute drug store and late night snack stops were no problem.

Zip Around The Coves In A Jet Ski

My absolute favorite part of this entire trip was the jet ski reservation we made with Zephyr Cove Marina Team. It was speedy fun zipping around the coves in a Sea-Doo Jet Ski. After our water adventure, we enjoyed lunch and some people watching at the Zephyr Cove Marina.

We spent our entire last day on and in the lake, enjoying the water, the people, and the awe inspiring beauty of the land. As we soaked in the splendor and surprise this ski resort area offers during the summer, we made a family vow to return as soon as possible.

The Perfect Crime At Theatre Deli

    Best for: ages 10-plus

Inspired by real-life art heists such as the Van Gogh theft in Amsterdam in 2020 this immersive escape room experience in an old City office block sends you and your team on a mission to purloin a priceless painting. Youre supplied with torches, blueprints and a walkie-talkie with a friendly voice at the other end to guide and give tips we wont give any spoilers away but expect to scuffle around on your hands and knees and crouch behind packing crates when the security guards pass through. There are three rooms in all, each with a different set of logic-based puzzles to solve so you can move to the next, while the clock keeps ticking Its huge fun for a small group we recommend three or four maximum and is perhaps best for those aged 10-plus with an adult in attendance. Shorter legs, of course, are handy for evading those laser tripwires…

Relax In A Hot Tub At The Ridge Resorts

Ridge Resorts was a perfect choice for our family vacation. It was a lovely place to hang out in a hot tub and enjoy the breath-taking mountain views surrounding us.

Its located in Nevada, overlooking the Carson Valley, but we decided to stay here because it was up in the mountains and gave us a different Lake Tahoe experience. We kicked back, stayed in, watched a movie, and hung out in the hot tub and swimming pools. We couldnt have had a more pleasant experience here.

Theres a cafe that serves easy, family friendly meals for nights you dont want to cook, although most apartments come with a full kitchen for the times when you do want to cook.
