How to rent a motorcycle in Vietnam: Essential Tips for a Memorable Adventure

How to rent a motorcycle in Vietnam

Today I want to tell you how to rent a motorcycle in Vietnam.

Motorcycle Garage Location

I want you to know that the motorcycle garage is at this address: 77 Đường số 8, P. Bình An, Thành Phố Thủ Đức, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam.

Renting from Top-Notch Motorbikes HCMC

My advice is if you’re planning to travel in Vietnam, rent a motorcycle or scooter from Top-Notch motorbikes HCMC.

Booking Your Rental

After booking your flight tickets, contact Top Notch Motorcycle Rental in Saigon and inform them that you want to rent a motorcycle from August 1st to August 30th (this is just an example). (Saigon and Ho Chi Minh City refer to the same city. In short, the city was named Saigon until 1976 when it was renamed Ho Chi Minh City in honor of Ho Chi Minh, the communist leader of Vietnam. However, many residents and tourists still informally refer to it as Saigon. So, yes, it is the same city, but the official name is Ho Chi Minh City).

Deposits and Requirements

You’ll probably be asked for a deposit of $50 or $100 via bank transfer to ensure the availability of the motorcycle when you arrive in Vietnam. Many people contact this garage and then don’t show up for various reasons, so the company has decided that those who pay a -+$50 deposit will secure the motorcycle. It’s like a guarantee.

I’m talking about motorcycles with big engines, not 50cc scooters. No deposit is required for scooters.

What documents do you need to rent a motorcycle? Passport, International Driving License, and money to pay the rental for the days you plan to rent it, plus a deposit. The deposit can be either money or your passport. It’s up to you.

Picking Up and Returning the Motorcycle

If you arrive by plane in another city in Vietnam, they will send the motorcycle by train with all the necessary documents to any city in Vietnam. (Not if you’re renting it for just one day).

You can pick up the motorcycle in Hanoi and ride it to Saigon to leave it at the garage, or you can pick it up in Saigon and travel to Hanoi. In Hanoi, leave it at the station and they’ll send it back by train. Or you can return it to the garage in Saigon. (Hanoi is in the north and Saigon is in the south).

Accessories Included

When you rent, you’ll also receive a helmet, phone charger, phone holder, and bags if it’s a big motorcycle.

Insurance and Legal Matters

Insurance covers the motorcycle, not the person. Also, if you have a minor accident like scratches or a minor bump, nobody is considered at fault. It’s normal to bump and fall in Vietnam, but don’t expect a major investigation unless it involves hospitalization.

You won’t need registration or insurance during your trip. The police won’t bother you about that, and it’s not mandatory. All you need is a helmet; if you don’t wear one, the police will intervene. Be careful with school children going to or coming from school; they all ride scooters. You don’t need a driver’s license to ride a scooter. But if the police stop you, they’ll ask for it as part of the procedure, and if you’ve exceeded the speed limit or run a red light, you’re at fault, so cooperate. They won’t do anything to you if you offer them a coffee as big as your mistake.

Assistance During Your Trip

During your trip, you’ll have at least two phone numbers from the garage, and they’ll answer even at night if there’s an emergency or if you have issues with the motorcycle. So, call anytime, and they’ll help you reach the nearest garage or send a mechanic to your location anywhere in Vietnam. Someone will arrive to assist you within 30 minutes.

I’ve encountered a problem and I’m speaking from experience.

So, if you want to rent a motorcycle, I recommend renting with confidence and visiting their official website here > Top-Notch motorbikes HCMC <

If you have any other questions, please add them in the comments, and I will be happy to respond.
